George III crown size portrait medal / coin by Taylor uniface bronze 41.2mm
This is an oddity
Taylor used this die for several things – he made a pattern Bank dollar and some have confused that piece with this issue.
However Taylor was a salesman and a businessman: Â he made copper dishes with this medal in the centre. Â We have had the dish a couple of times in our 45 years and more of dealing and consider it scarce but obtainable…
The traces of solder on the revers tend to confirm this attribution as a medal coin not a pattern.
