GB Bicentenary of Lord Byron poet 1988 by Ron Dutton cast bronze medal RD198 60mm.

Head of the writer and poet left  LORD BYRON . BICENTENARY . 1988

Reverse: Quotation ” ETERNAL SPIRIT OF THE CHAINLESS MIND!” (Opening line of the Sonnet on Chillon, written 1816) It continues, Brightest in dungeons, Liberty, thou art; for there thy habitation is the heart…  A suitably Romantic, extravagant reference to this most well known Romantic.  The scene is Greece – the ruined temple at Delphi, landscape rendered in Dutton’s usual style, rugged as if by moonlight.
