France Societe Philomathique de Bordeaux silvered bronze medal XIII Exposition 1895. Given as the Diplome d’Honneur at the exhibition. Designer S Kulle, medal made by Massonet et Cie. The society was founded in 1808 as a school for Arts & Crafts, endowed by businessman and banker, Isaac Rodrigues. It became by Imperial decree in 1859 an utilite publique in other words, an institute of public interest.

So one of the great exhibitions of the 19th century. Think! over 3000 wine producers out of 10,000 exhibitors. One of those small unassuming medals with a big reach celebrating the last exhibition organised by this institution. 56 x 48.5mm. silvered bronze VF
