The artist wrote in his book These are not your grandfather’s medals ‘I made this medal right after the Bush administration made it legal to torture.  I was incensed at the contrived language “aggressive interrogation” as the nation and the world were confronted with numerous photos  of persons being tortured in Abu Grab’ (Iraq).
Beach adds ‘ I wanted the title to echo the cadence of the “Nobel Peace Prize”
