France bronze medal Przewalski’s Horse – Professeur Édouard Bourdelle Muséum d’histoire naturelle Paris 1946 (Natural History Museum)
Reverse: Przewalski’s horse
According to Wikipedia: Przewalski’s horse, also called the takhi, Mongolian wild horse or Dzungarian horse, is a rare and endangered wild horse originally native to the steppes of Central Asia. It is named after Russian geographer and explorer Nikolay Przhevalsky.
The horse went extinct in the wild in the 1960’s – last sighting 1969. It exists still in captive breeding programmes and a male foal was born in the wild in Kazahkstan in August 2026 due to such an initiative.
