MB109363 France Hommage de Medicine by Albert de Jaeger, a gilt bronze medal featuring the Hippocratic Oath.  Figure with serpent on column and scroll with Code de Deontologie, Serment de Medecin.  Heavy! 99mm. Ideal as a paperweight
On the other side:  La Medecine, Art de soigner – the art of healing.  within two serpents, hands guard a heart, sign of life.  High relief, issued by the Monnaie de Paris originally in 1966.  I’ve found two references CFO 41/10e selection and 31/32 113 (hors selection) in the CGMP and in no.33 of the Bulletin, 25th anniversary index.  This gilt bronze example is numbered  454/500 1971 in gilt bronze, although the catalogue mentions that the edition of 50 in this format runs from 1-50.  As is the Monnaie’s practice this is probably an indication of a new issue of a popular medal once the original issue 1966 was exhausted.
