Facing portrait of Dr. R J Minnitt (1889-1974) Â on obverse. He invented in 1936 the nitrous oxide gas and air apparatus used to help relieve women’s pain in childbirth, especially for home deliveries. Â British physician and pioneer in obstetric analgesics.
Reverse MINNITT GAS AIR ANALGESIC APPARATUS the whole draped around the medal and in high relief.
Cast bronze art medal by Ron Dutton, 75mm. Â Date mid 1970’s, probably after Dr Minnitt’s death in 1974. Â One of Dutton’s first commissions.
