GB Memorial Plaque WW1 bronze medal given to the relatives of those who died in service during the First World War.  Also known as the  Dead Man’s Penny.  Designed by E Carter Preston, each medal was individually named using a small removable plaque attached with an electro-magnet.  This was a timely invention.

Named to Ernest Maywall, 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Light Infantry #13002.  Died 17 December 1917 in Belgium.

Over one and half million medals were made and given to relatives of GB and Commonwealth troops who died during the war.
