Henri-Jules de Bourbon, son of the great Condé, died on April 1, 1709, and his grandson on March 3 of the following year. The State offered to the Duke of Enghien, who was left standing at the death of his father, this token engraved by Hercule Lebreton, the king’s engraver, representing a golden tree with one branch broken, symbolising the death of Henri-Jules de Bourbon-Condé, while the other one rises with vigor, symbolizing the Duke of Enghien. There were 100 copies in gold, 1,750 in silver and 40,800 in copper.
