£120.00

From the collection of Ron Dutton

1 in stock

BAMS medal of the diarist, Samuel Pepys, by cartoonist Ronald Searle trial lead splashes RD231.  Portrait of Pepys facing, head only, but on the reverse he makes an elaborate bow to the viewer.

Type base metal, very heavy. 85mm. each approximately. Weight of two pieces: approx. 900g.  Reference:  BAMS issue no. 20, 1984, edition 100 pieces. see The Medal no.6 (1985)

No idea why Ron Dutton should have these as he wasn’t involved in the practicalities of striking of the medal by the Birmingham Mint.  However he was the British Art Medal Society secretary in charge of the production of the medals issued by the society and may have been sent them as part of the quality control process.

If sending abroad, we will probably have to use sea/economy mail rather than airmail because of the material.
