Bulgaria: Cast bronze uniface medal Madara horseman with outreached hands RD130

Bulgaria bronze medal depicting the Madara Horseman carved into rock in northeast Bulgaria.  The bas relief of the knight on horseback is  thought to commemorate how a Bulgarian khan took back his throne from the Byzantine empire.   Khan Tervel (700-721) added an inscription 705 which tells this history.  The relief is now barely visible because of the effects of time, wind and water.

See also RD062 for another interpretation of this famous bas relief.
