France Cast bronze medal Pol Neveux by Jean Vernon 1938 SFAM.  Société Française des Amis de la Médaille #3. Pol Neveu (1865 Reims-1939 Seine et Oise). Librarian and writer, he wrote a study on Guy de Maupassant and was Inspector General of Libraries in France (1902-35) and a member of the Academie Goncourt. Vernon shows Neveux as an old man shortly before his death. On the reverse within a square is a Latin text which translates: People live in books, superstitions have impressed themselves on their works, they speak and are silent, they are heard and are silent, they speak while they are read, and are silent when they respond.
