Opera singer Josephine Fodor (1789-1870) was also known as Giuseppina Fodor Mainvielle bronze medal 1819. 1819 was the year she sang at the Comedie Italienne in Paris in Il matrimonio segreto, Don Giovanni, Le Barbier de Seville and the Thieving Magpie.

Adria is a place in the Veneto of Northern Italy where this medal was commissioned and where she toured at this time.

Born in Paris she moved to Russia, St Petersburg, while very young (probably to avoid the French Revolution. There her father taught at the Imperial court and she debuted as an opera singer.

In 1812, married, she came back to France. Medal by L Ferrari. AE 43mm. scarce.
