William Kent 18th century architect Tercentenary bronze portrait medal by Jacqueline Stieger 1985. Kent was the Georgian court painter but best known for his buildings and landscaping, e.g. Holkham Hall, Chiswick House, Stowe House. Dark patina rectangular shape, high relief portrait 61 x 52mm. Born 1936 in London to Swiss parents, Stieger studied at the Edinburgh College of Art. In 1962 she visited Switzerland and met Alfred Gruber whom she later married. Together they began a remarkable collaboration which included architectural commissions up until his death in 1972.
