This medal was given annually PRIX DU JUGE TESSIER from 1889 in silver and bronze  to the two best law students of the Laval University, Quebec, where Tessier was professor.  The prize was originally endowed in 1877/78 by Tessier
Bronze 50mm. Reverse maple leaf wreath.
Tessier was a member of the Senate of Canada, representing the Gulf division from 1867-1873. Â He served as mayor of Quebec City from 1853 to 1854.
Helped to found the North Shore Railway and the Banque National (1858) serving as its first president.
