France, Coquelin Cadet in the role of Crispin, the valet, in 17th century French comedy, by Jean-Michel Cazin, fine cast bronze 57mm. made c. 1893-96. gEF rare. The actor Alexandre Honore Ernest Coquelin (1848-1909) was a comic actor, called Cadet (or Junior) to distinguish himself from his brother, also an actor. Famous for his monologues on everyday life, we might today call him a ‘stand-up’ comic. He also played classic roles such as Crispin, appearing at the Odeon and the Theatre Francais. Cazin is known as a ceramicist and painter, but occasionally we see medals made by him Ref. Forrer BDM I.374
