1848 French Revolution medal – Appeal of the people to the representatives of the Rhône department. Bronze 37.5mm.  Contemporary with the tale of Hugo’s Les Miserables

Obverse: REPRESENTANS DU PEUPLE PENSEZ AU PEUPLE, raised rectangular plaque with incuse text; LA FOREST DOUTRE AUBERTIER LORTET LACROIX MORTEMART COURD PAULLIAN BENOIT MOURAUD CHANAY FERROUILLAT PELLETIER GREPPO in 14 lines, radiate eye above, date across fields, Dt DU RHONE in exergue

Translation: The populace become destitute when tyrants don’t leave them alone and voracious if can’t have their daily bread despite tending the earth

I think Garapon was the author of rhe reverse inscription not a medallist
